Body Being – Active Healing

Tammy Waite is on sabbatical this month, so Luca is sharing a body healing experience with you. Tammy will be back in December. Enjoy!

There comes a time where we all realize that we must take an active role in making and keeping our bodies healthy.  For many of us, we have already taken an active role in making our bodies unhealthy (we have so much fun doing it)!

What we sometimes forget is that we have a hidden, or untapped, ability to initiate, assist and amplify our healing process.  Remembering to put this ability into action is the key. No special knowledge is required – only your desire to focus your attention, be consistent in your effort, and your desire to experience the reward of taking action to support you body in health and healing!

About two years ago, I woke up one morning with a tooth ache. Actually, it was outright pain.  The back story is that I had a root canal procedure twenty years earlier on this tooth and I had problems with it now and again throughout the years.  But this was the worst.  I visited the dentist who very directly suggested that the tooth had to go. So I had the tooth removed. As it turns out, most of the bone around the tooth was infected, and had been for years. Of course, the infected bone was removed also. Well, all of this removal left quite a hole in my jaw. In fact, the hole in my jaw was too big to add a bone graft, so the oral surgeon closed up my gum and suggested that we hope for some bone regeneration so a bone graft could be used.  “See you in three weeks” he said.

Here comes the good part.  I left the office and an idea came to me: I had an overwhelming feeling to start visualizing the healing of the bone.  Each day, twice a day, without fail, I would visualize bone-growing cells moving into the excavated area of my jaw, vigorously and steadily doing their job.  I visualized their action and the outcome of the work: healthy bone growing and filling-in the void.

Three weeks later I returned to the oral surgeon.   He examined my jaw and then my chart. A baffled look crossed his face. He said it can’t be, that the date in my chart must be off.  I confirmed that the dates were correct. He said that there is no way that this much bone growth was possible in the amount of time that had passed since the procedure.  Apparently, the entire void in my jaw was now filled with healthy, new bone.  Actually, I had done too good of a job, as there was some overgrowth! No bone graft would be needed. As I left the office, with a smile on my face, I took one further step in the active healing process: I gave my body permission to use the energy it needed each day to further heal the area and remodel the bone.

While what I am describing to you may sound like a miracle, it is actually very practical and possible for all of us to do this. The ability to actively heal ourselves is always present if we believe that we can do it.  The outcome was very powerful for me and has allowed me to repeat the process on other parts of my body as needed.  The interesting point here is that the healing process through visualization is directly related to the amount of belief I have and the action I take in that direction.  If I only have partial belief or only put in a small effort, then I have found that my healing is lessened.

The connection of body, intention and personal energy is very powerful. We can all do it, if we just remember that we can.  You don’t need to know what the actual cells look like, or how they are supposed to go together, you just need to focus on the concept and the healing (as your health professional to help you with a visual image if this will assist your focus). Then visualize the ability of the cells or body part to heal – your body knows what it needs to do!  The connection of body and being has always been there for each of us – dig in and use your innate knowing to access this powerful tool for health and healing.

Please write and share you questions or experiences. Shared questions and experiences of healing bring us all closer to sustained health. I would love to hear from you!

To our health and healing!

    Luca,

Your experience is so clear and encouraging. I love that your healing surprised your oral surgeon. I have been practicing Reconnective Healing (Eric Pearl) and experienced some amazing shifts as well. It is all about tapping into energy that is already here and all it requires is openness. Thank you for sharing.

Shanna, Thanks so much for your comment. I really like to hear more about Reconnective Healing and what type(s) of shifting you are experiencing.
