This seductive, gentle voice touches my soul.

I drop into the whirling vibration of creative force and become what I am.

Why would I deny myself anything else?

Physical alignment with universal peace starts within.

The guidance is there. The direction is everywhere.

The commitment awaits my arrival.

I become joined with your purpose because I say so.

The realization ~ the spirit yearns for a bodily carriage that houses love.

I WILL to listen to your call, to fortify and sustain you with pure nourishment.

Eating the source that serves. My choice is based on self respect.

I honor you, the temple of my soul. Ask of me and I will reply from this new place.

The place of no excuses. The time is now. The place is here.

Bonjour and Bonne Année from Paris, France! Yes, my husband and I have the great opportunity to be with our very good friends who are living here. We welcome in the New Year in this fabulous city! Each day we walk these streets and feel the vibration of a place that echoes the quality: “Be alive in the world!” Whether it is the incredible gothic forms of Notre-Dame, or the Jewish quarters, saturated with people and brimming with eclectic food choices, or the colorful windows draped with the latest fashions, all arouse and tempt the imagination. Paris is an open doorway to personal expression and offers a grand invitation to jump into life! The call? Be inspired.

Daily, no matter where we are, we can tap into life’s bounty and be inspired. Why? We have the gift of our senses and direct contact with creation. We are life within life. What holds us back from fully expressing ourselves? What do we want to express? Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh and Degas all started somewhere. Is there a list of heart-felt dreams that you keep tucked away, waiting for you? What steps can you take to ignite the quality of energy that lifts the soul and invigorates the spirit? Challenge the fear.

When we take a leap of faith and tap into our passion, we awaken a life purpose. In action, we make a commitment to honor ourselves, and ultimately the world. What could be more wonderful? We add our flare to the world and inspire others along the way. Together we create a living and breathing world full of a vibration that exudes taking chances, one that has no fear.

The opportunity:

Pick the desired channel of expression of heart’s desire.

Express yourself through this channel.

Make a commitment of action to yourself.

Create space and time every day or week to move into the choice.

Tap into the senses and feel.

Re-commit to yourself by being consistent.

If there are challenges, greet these challenges with gratitude. We must fall to get up.

Honor your passage.

Honor your gift.

You are a master waiting to birth the dream: the dream of your individual gift. Fear is our friend. It is the one who questions us simply to challenge us. The time is now. The place is here. And we are the ones, like so many great ones before us, whose light is waiting to shine. The world awaits our creativity. Let us share life by bringing in the New Year with our commitment to self. Let us engage in life even more as we honor those before us and join them by adding our individual spark of self-expression.

Bonne Année! À bientôt!

.

It is this time of year that we tend to let things slide as the holiday frenzy begins. Indulging is fun and so easy to do. Maintaining balance is somewhat harder. Remember that our bodies like to be taken care of in a way that offers maximum love and care to every cell.

Here are some very practical tips for keeping balance in our bodies while still enjoying the holiday cheer.

Stay on a regular exercise routine. Increasing the length or intensity to compensate for the extra intake can lead to muscle strains and lead to down time.

Remember that indulging is not a bad thing, but gluttony can lead to the cells of our body being stressed trying to process the overload. Moderation and timing in consumption and activities can go a long way to keeping our bodies happy.

Try to balance the frolicking foods and drink with healthy replenishing foods, such as leafy greens to replace minerals and add roughage and water to keep us hydrated. All those rich and tasty foods may need some help moving through our bodies, and water and fresh, deep greens go a long way to supporting our digestion.

Brain power also burns off some of those extra calories we tend to take in this time of the year. Engage your mind in stimulating conversations or games – not only will you have fun but you can assist in keeping yourself in balance.

Balance in our body is not just about the foods we eat. It can come in the form of taking time to make ourselves part of a loving community. Enjoying ourselves with friends and family balances the energy flow within each and every one of us.

Nature can be our biggest mirror this time of year to maintain balance. In the northern hemisphere, towards the end of December we reach the shortest day of the year. During this time, nature shows us how to turn inward to restore and rejuvenate. Take a moment and gaze outside at the landscape and at the animals. How have these parts of our world shifted? Is there a message for us in this shift?

The potential for emotional and physical rest and introspection is compelling. If we listen, our body will take every opportunity to let us know what it needs now. If we allow ourselves to be distracted by the goings-on, then we may miss a grand opportunity to not only renew ourselves, but to connect to a part of our nature that is most accessible when the day is short and when everything around us (except us humans!) seems to be just a bit more calm.

The key here is keep from becoming sluggish and falling out of balance. There are many New Year’s resolutions we can make. If we remember to keep in communication with our body we don’t have to resort to playing catch up with a resolution on a single day of the year.

Please blog us and share with all of our community how you have been taking care of your body this holiday season!

Tammy Waite is on sabbatical this month, so Luca is sharing a body healing experience with you. Tammy will be back in December. Enjoy!

There comes a time where we all realize that we must take an active role in making and keeping our bodies healthy. For many of us, we have already taken an active role in making our bodies unhealthy (we have so much fun doing it)!

What we sometimes forget is that we have a hidden, or untapped, ability to initiate, assist and amplify our healing process. Remembering to put this ability into action is the key. No special knowledge is required – only your desire to focus your attention, be consistent in your effort, and your desire to experience the reward of taking action to support you body in health and healing!

About two years ago, I woke up one morning with a tooth ache. Actually, it was outright pain. The back story is that I had a root canal procedure twenty years earlier on this tooth and I had problems with it now and again throughout the years. But this was the worst. I visited the dentist who very directly suggested that the tooth had to go. So I had the tooth removed. As it turns out, most of the bone around the tooth was infected, and had been for years. Of course, the infected bone was removed also. Well, all of this removal left quite a hole in my jaw. In fact, the hole in my jaw was too big to add a bone graft, so the oral surgeon closed up my gum and suggested that we hope for some bone regeneration so a bone graft could be used. “See you in three weeks” he said.

Here comes the good part. I left the office and an idea came to me: I had an overwhelming feeling to start visualizing the healing of the bone. Each day, twice a day, without fail, I would visualize bone-growing cells moving into the excavated area of my jaw, vigorously and steadily doing their job. I visualized their action and the outcome of the work: healthy bone growing and filling-in the void.

Three weeks later I returned to the oral surgeon. He examined my jaw and then my chart. A baffled look crossed his face. He said it can’t be, that the date in my chart must be off. I confirmed that the dates were correct. He said that there is no way that this much bone growth was possible in the amount of time that had passed since the procedure. Apparently, the entire void in my jaw was now filled with healthy, new bone. Actually, I had done too good of a job, as there was some overgrowth! No bone graft would be needed. As I left the office, with a smile on my face, I took one further step in the active healing process: I gave my body permission to use the energy it needed each day to further heal the area and remodel the bone.

While what I am describing to you may sound like a miracle, it is actually very practical and possible for all of us to do this. The ability to actively heal ourselves is always present if we believe that we can do it. The outcome was very powerful for me and has allowed me to repeat the process on other parts of my body as needed. The interesting point here is that the healing process through visualization is directly related to the amount of belief I have and the action I take in that direction. If I only have partial belief or only put in a small effort, then I have found that my healing is lessened.

The connection of body, intention and personal energy is very powerful. We can all do it, if we just remember that we can. You don’t need to know what the actual cells look like, or how they are supposed to go together, you just need to focus on the concept and the healing (as your health professional to help you with a visual image if this will assist your focus). Then visualize the ability of the cells or body part to heal – your body knows what it needs to do! The connection of body and being has always been there for each of us – dig in and use your innate knowing to access this powerful tool for health and healing.

Please write and share you questions or experiences. Shared questions and experiences of healing bring us all closer to sustained health. I would love to hear from you!

To our health and healing!

Luca

What a gift we have, what a gift we are: the gift of life itself! Here we are, in our human forms, with the chance to open and to feel. Feel the gift of being alive. In our everyday existence, we are faced with challenges and chances. Can we be OK with whatever comes our way and take care of ourselves in the meantime? Yes!

As we walk through life, we are navigating our way on our individual journey to the best of our ability. What does this mean? Moment by moment life shifts. If we decide to shift with life and practice non-resistance and clear communication with our bodies and minds, then we can maintain health, even during crisis. With this awareness, all is at it is, and we can open to a way of being that allows us the chance to engage with life during any circumstance. What if we are faced with a challenge – perhaps a physical diagnosis of illness, or a trauma, or we simply feel over-whelmed? Can we use these experiences to go even deeper with ourselves? Imagine showing up for ourselves in our most challenging hour. By tapping into our core, we can uncover what our bodies and spirits need, and from this place, care for ourselves no matter what.

We can accept life’s journey when we accept ourselves. We can accept ourselves fully when we honor our passage. One way of honoring ourselves is to take the time to ask our body what it needs, and then to listen to the reply from within. Once we listen and respond, notice how life seems to flow more easily. In taking care of our human, we respect our inner voice and do what is necessary for our comfort and ultimate expansion. In this place of fulfilling what our bodies need, we are OK with all that is, we know that we have cared for ourselves to the best of our ability, and this action allows energy and life to move through us.

This kind of care is crucial in shifting toward our goals and aspirations. If we are not charged by a false sense of self and we are not engaged with judgment of life, then we have a chance to open to life’s call. In not judging aspects of our journey, we allow life to be what it is. In this we realize that we can live life respecting our bodies completely while at the same time accepting our individual passage as the gift that it is.

THE DAILY PRACTICES

FINDING INNER GUIDANCE WITH THE BREATH

For twenty one consecutive days if possible, take five, ten, or fifteen minutes upon waking to find your breath as follows:

Breathe into your naval to open your core.

Continue by breathing stillness in and any stressors out.

Begin to feel openness and flow. Continue to lengthen the breath until a sense of serenity resides within you.

When ready, ask yourself what the body and spirit need.

Drop inside yourself and open to receive a response. Understand that it may not be a concrete answer, but a sensation of how to assist your human toward ultimate care and acceptance.

Stay with yourself this way as long as possible.

When you are ready, begin to come out of your practice with gentle body movement. Take a moment to feel the shift.

MORNING CLARITY TEAS:

Often after waking, the body can feel stiff and the mind a bit foggy. To help your energy rise and assist in hydrating your body, take a beneficial cleansing beverage every morning.

If you have a smaller, thinner body type, try gentle teas such as fennel, spearmint, star anise or ginger.

If you have a more robust body type, try teas such as red clover, chicory, burdock or orange blossom.

Blessings.

This month we celebrate Spring Equinox in lands north of the Equator. Equinox means “equal nights”, and all over the world perfect balance exists as we experience 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness. For the soils of Mother Earth, as the amount of light increases, so begins the next cycle of rebirth. As winter’s hibernation phase is coming to a close, life exposes itself, and with that there is a call for new growth. How can we embody the energy of spring? We can allow the gift of light to enter into our being to feed our bodies and nourish our souls. We can plant seeds of conscious intent. We can LIVE!

Our bodies are made of matter, light transforms matter, and matter is energy. Our bodies are made of cells, and our cells have memory. Each moment of our life, whether consciously remembered or not, is embedded within our cells. All of our experiences and everything we witness has been downloaded into our bodies. As we practice awareness, we begin to recognize that we believe what our cells carry and that these beliefs become our reality. When we recognize that our cells are made of energy we can begin the process of shifting our beliefs. As we shift our beliefs, we shift our perception and ultimately, our reality.

By consciously breathing in light we can transmute any hibernating energy, locked deep within our bodies, which is not based on self-love. How does this work? When we witness our thoughts we see that our thoughts are based on beliefs. Is a particular belief true? Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not. Ultimately, our perception determines that. How can we tell the difference? Truth holds an energetic quality of tranquility in our bodies. Something that is not true or something that goes against our divine nature holds the quality of disharmony and this makes us feel uncomfortable. In using conscious breath to release beliefs that go against ourselves, we begin the process of transforming our cellular structure. When we release old energy from our cells, space is created and available to seed pure intent.

Our bodies are the soil of our being. As we till our soil we bring air to those places that have been buried. As we breathe in love our soil becomes love. Our soil then becomes a pure place where heart-felt desires and dreams are planted, nourished and cultivated. Moment by moment, we feed the garden of our being by breathing in light and fortify our bodies with love.

In this fertile soil, we recognize the illuminating quality of our individual journey, supported by our surroundings, which opens the gateway for heart’s intent and soul’s purpose to enter. While we recognize our individual journey and shed light to what we wish to transform, we open the gateway for heart’s intent and soul’s purpose. As we willingly embrace our process and open to the energies that feed and sustain us, we fully live. It is true. We can support every aspect of our existence by simply bringing awareness to our breath, which is, of course, the gift of LIFE itself!

Here are a few suggestions to aid in this process:

Meditation: Holding the intent of pure transformative light, breathe into every cell of your body for the count of eight, hold your breath for a count of four, breathe out any sensation that feels heavy or stuck for the count of eight, then hold your breath again for a count of four. Find a comfortable pace for your breathing and feel the rhythm of your being.

Imagine tapping into your body, mind and spirit in each moment and listening to what the self is communicating. When we have the desire to hear what our bodies need, it opens a pathway of self-care. Consciously practicing self-care allows us to live at our full potential, and we, in turn, create a relationship based on love and respect. From this point of view, we care for ourselves not because we “should” but because we want to. In consciously caring for our bodies in this way, we promote health and emotional stability, which supports harmony within ourselves and throughout our world. Are we ready to create a deeper relationship with ourselves – feeding our bodies, minds and souls what they yearn for?

In the northern hemisphere, it is the heart of winter. Often during this time of year we may feel that we have less energy, are at times depressed and sometimes even feel anxious. We passed through winter solstice, the day with the least amount of sunlight, and now the light in increasing. What actions can we take to merge with this season and use the gifts of winter to feed our bodies and souls?

In recognizing winter’s cycle, we can allow our bodies to restore and rebalance. During this time of the year longer hours of darkness shift our circadian rhythms (our internal clock) to produce extra melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that deepens sleep. In addition, melatonin also boosts the immune system and promotes longevity. If we can be kind to ourselves during this “yin”(internal) time, we have the chance to allow our systems to rest and cultivate energy by allowing more sleep and to balance this rest with movement and fresh air. Other ways we can restore balance and create energy is to be aware of our intake of sugars and consider eating more fiber, whole grains, fresh seasonal vegetables and organic fruits. Consider the old saying, “we are what we eat”. When we feed our systems healthy, clean, food we promote wellness within our beings.

Each season has particular characteristics. Winter is considered the cold season and in Chinese Medicine it pertains to Kidney energy. It is vital at this time that we take-in even more water than usual for our physiological function. In many healing modalities it is a common recommendation to consume a daily amount of water equal to half of our weight (in pounds) in ounces. A great way to achieve this can be to make a vat of your favorite decaffeinated tea and drink it throughout the day. Add a slice of fresh ginger to aid in digestion and warm the body too.

During the winter our skin can become dehydrated. Often if we have a skin condition we will witness a flare up during the winter. Have you ever heard of a body brush? A body brush sloughs off dead skin, massages muscles and promotes blood flow. An environmentally sound brush made of vegetable fibers can be used before showering. Brushing toward the heart will maximize the detoxifying benefits. Once showered, a wonderful gift to our skin is to massage in an organic coconut oil. Why not make our shower a ritual of love and admiration for our bodies?

If we remember that life has a rhythm then we can benefit from winter’s gifts. During this time of year we can join the natural cycle of life by slowing down, by allowing ourselves extra rest, by listening to our bodies needs and caring for ourselves naturally. In consciously choosing to embrace this cycle, we fully benefit from the quiet and comfort of winter’s blanket. In respecting the process of the earth, we respect our own process and can BE the natural rhythm of life.
